Agency will have control over emirates water sector
Abu Dhabi is planning to create an overarching authority to govern and regulate the emirates water sector, MEEDs Mena Water 2014 conference was told.
Speaking at the event in Abu Dhabi on 29 September, Mohamed Abdel Hamyd Dawoud, adviser for water resources at the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi, said the emirate was creating an agency to control the water sector.
Dawoud said the authority was in the final stages of planning and would be formed following approval of the framework by the government.
Abu Dhabi is also currently in the process of creating an overarching agency to control the emirates energy sector.
