Marina to be built for yachts and club

The Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC) is planning to build the second phase of its Al-Bateen Marina on the southwestern edge of Abu Dhabi Island, close to the Intercontinental hotel overlooking Hudayriat Island.

The project will be built to the east of phase one, adjacent to the Diwan building. It will include a marina for yachts and a yacht club.

The local Arif & Bintoak is the design consultant. UK-based Halcrow is the consultant for the marine works.

Contractors are already working on the first phase the project, a marina for fishing vessels. In late 2008, the local Overseas Ast started work on the marine works package for phase one, involving dredging and quay walls.

Contractors are also working on developments adjacent to the marina for real estate developers (MEED 10:9:09).

The local Emirates Belbadi Contracting Company is working on the estimated AED1.6bn ($435m) Al-Bateen Wharf project in Abu Dhabi. It includes a 15-floor hotel tower and a 14-floor apartment building. The client is the local Belbadi Enterprises, in partnership with TDIC.

A joint venture of Lebanon’s Arabian Construction Company (ACC) and Hong Kong’s Leader Marine Contracting is working on the estimated AED80m marine works package for International Capital Trading’s (ICT) Marasy development. ICT is now tendering the main construction contract.
