Abu Dhabi re-evaluates decision to use PPP for highway

Plans by the emirate of Abu Dhabi to build the UAE's biggest road project using private finance are being re-evaluated, nearly one month after selecting a preferred PPP bidder for the project, The National has reported. The Department of Transport (DoT) said it is "currently evaluating different options" for the 327km Mafraq-to-Al Ghweifat Highway project to ensure "best quality and value." If the emirate scraps plans for a PPP for the road project, it will make many contractors re-evaluate their willingness to participate in future PPP proposals, Wael Allan, the regional managing director of Hyder Consulting, said.
