Abu Dhabi's Department of Energy (DoE) and Department of Economic Development are reviewing the electricity tariff structure for the emirate’s industrial sector, with a view to reducing tariffs.
According to a quote on the state news agency (Wam) website, Awaidha Murshed al-Marar, chairman of DoE, said that the department was “… supporting programmes that aim to stimulate the industrial sector and investment in Abu Dhabi, and is promoting transparent pricing and the adoption of preferential tariffs to make the sector more attractive to investors”.
In September, it was reported that the UAE had issued a resolution to reduce electricity tariffs for large, medium and small factories to support the industrial sector. More than 6,000 factories are expected to benefit from the price cuts.
