Power and water metering scheme to be completed by April 2011
Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (Adwea) is set to complete its smart metering programme by April 2011.
Speaking at Smart Grids Middle East conference in Dubai on 6 December, Adwea senior technician, Saeed Nassouri, said that the programme is almost complete.
The scheme includes the implementation of a fully automatic meter reading along with a meter intelligence monitoring and data capturing system.
The scheme has been implemented in four phases starting with the collection of data followed by data analysis, integration into the billing system and finally full incorporation into Adwea’s smart network.
Of Adwea’s 500,000 customers in Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain, around 80 per cent have been wired up to the smart grid. Customers who now have their meter readings carried out electronically equate to 50 per cent.
