Solar photovoltaic project relocated
Abu Dhabis Masdar is to increase the capacity of its Noor 1 solar photovoltaic project from 100MW to 350MW, according to Bruce Stedall, power network development department manager at the UAEs Transco.
The project will be relocated from Suneiha in the Western Region to Suweihan.
It may now be tendered by a different client.
There has always been an issue in the power sector around the obligation to demonstrate that one has procured the least cost plant, says Stedall. The question is whether Masdar should do that, or Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Company.
Masdar restarted prequalification for the project in late 2014, but never released a list of prequalifiers. There is still no timeline for the tendering of the project.
