Abu Dhabi to have dedicated bus lanes by year-end 2011

01 December 2010

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport (DOT) has announced that capital city is to have dedicated bus lanes by the end of next year, Gulf News has reported. These exclusive bus lanes, intended solely for Department of Transport buses, will be added on both sides of the road along Hamdan Street and Electra Street, the two busiest downtown roads in the city. The introduction of bus-only lanes aims to reduce delays along the bus route, which will in turn improve bus service reliability and increase the attractiveness of public transport, DOT said. The design for the new dedicated bus lanes has been completed, and construction tenders had already been sent out, it said.
