The AED1.6bn ($435m) waterfront project will be known as Al-Bateen Wharf and will cover an area of 54,000 square metres.
The wharf will have a 400-room, 15-storey hotel tower and a smaller 14-storey tower with 200 serviced apartments.
The marina will include berths for 285 fishing boats and 38 racing dhows.
It will also retain the Bateen shipyard, which will showcase traditional dhow building.
Builders will start work on the project by the end of the 2007. It will be completed by the end of 2009.
Singapore’s Surbana is the masterplan consultant.
US-based Otak is the architect for the hotel towers.
