ACC wins Beirut high-rise work

06 December 2002

The local Arabian Construction Company (ACC) has been awarded a $73.4 million contract for a commercial development to be built over a 13,550-square-metre plot at Sin el-Fil. The 20-month contract, awarded by the local Metropolitan City Centre- part of the UAE's Al-Habtoor Group, calls for the construction of a 130-metre-high tower adjacent to the existing Metropolitan Palace hotel (MEED 15:11:02).

ACC will be responsible for structural, architectural, mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP), interior finishing and landscaping works. The tower will have a total built-up area of about 115,000 square metres and will include six basements, a ground floor, six technical floors, 19 typical floors and two penthouse floors.

The project will be carried out in two phases. The first-phase development will cover the construction of shopping malls, a 2,700-capacity multi-purpose hall, 160-metre-long pedestrian bridge linking the proposed tower to the hotel, car parks and driveways, access ramps, plant rooms, a bowling centre and related facilities. Phase 2 will include the construction of the tower, a helipad and related works.

The consultant is the local Conser Engineering & Consulting.
