Saudi Arabia’s Acwa Power is rolling out a centralised control and monitoring pilot project using digital technologies and software from Chinese technology firm Huawei.
Acwa Power will adopt Huawei’s FusionSolar, a centralised control and monitoring system, to help photovoltaic (PV) solar plants run more effectively through utilising digital technology. The Saudi developer hopes that the adoption of the digital platform will boost efficiency of its PV solar plants.
The FusionSolar smart PV management system has been designed to increase availability, reduce operation and maintenance (O&M) costs and reduce power loss of the whole plant. The system allows operators of PV plants to control and monitor performance of PV installations without being onsite, and also allows the management of several PV plants at the same time.
