Adbic seeking partners for polymers park

Infrastructure investment of $150m now complete at the facility

Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (Adbic) is in talks with several companies as it seeks businesses for the planned Abu Dhabi Polymers Park.

The Polymers Park, launched in 2008, has had a difficult time finding businesses that want to establish a presence in the site as a result of the global economic slowdown, according to Jamal Salem al-Dhaheri, chief executive of Adbic.

“A lot of the companies we have been talking to about the polymers park have had issues, but are still showing interest,” said Al-Dhaheri on 8 November at the MEED Abu Dhabi Conference 2010.

“We are talking to several potential tenants,” he added.

When it was launched in 2008, the Abu Dhabi Polymers Park was intended to be home to around 50 plastic product manufacturers on a site covering 4.1 million square metres.

Already $150m has been invested developing the infrastructure for the site, work which has now been completed, says Al-Dhaheri.
