The revised front-end engineering and design (FEED) package is nearing completion for the new liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) train project planned by Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (Adgas). The new FEED, being carried out by Japan's Chiyoda Corporation, was commissioned after engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) bids for the Das island project came in well over budget last year (MEED 23:5:03).
The revised EPC tender is expected to be issued in September and call for the construction of a slightly smaller LPG train than the 1 million-tonne-a-year version included in the original tender. In the original tender, Chiyoda was the low bidder with a price of about $480 million. The other bidders were Italy's Snamprogetti, Japan's JGC Corporationand the UK's Amec.
