With the seventh-largest proven oil and gas reserves in the world respectively, Adnoc is a significant player in the global oil and gas market. The company has a long history of stable crude production and exports, which now largely are exported to Asian markets such as China, Japan and South Korea.

The major challenge will be increasing production after easily accessible fields start to become depleted. Gas output growth in particular could require the challenging development of further sour gas fields such as Bab and Hail or the expansion of the Shah gas project.
