Kuwait-based logistics firm faces allegations of fraud

Kuwait-based logistics company Agility will now appear in a US court on 8 February to answer allegations of fraud, after its scheduled court session on 29 January was cancelled.

The company was indicted on 16 November 2009 under its previous name, the Public Warehousing Company (PWC), in an Atlanta court regarding a dispute with the US Department of Justice over multiple charges of conspiracy and fraud.

Agility’s court appearance has been repeatedly delayed. It had been due to appear in court on 22 December and then 8 January, but the proceedings were postponed on both occasions (MEED 13:1:10).

The firm is in continuous discussions with the US government, with a view to resolving the legal cases with the Department of Justice, according to an Agility spokesman.

“However, no agreement has been reached to date and there is no guarantee that the discussions will result in an agreement,” says the spokesman.
