Solar facility will be installed at Dubai Autodrome
The local Siraj Power has signed an agreement with Dubai Autodrome to begin work on a solar project at the Motor City race track.
Siraj Power will install a 3MW solar facility on rooftops at the Autodrome race track, which was opened in 2004.
Dubai Autodrome is the latest of a number of companies to press ahead with plans to utilise solar power to provide power.
Dubai-based airline Emirates was one of the first businesses to install a rooftop solar facility, when it installed a 1MW photovoltaic (PV) facility on its Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre.
The project is part of the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority’s (Dewa’s) Shams solar rooftop programme. The installed system includes 2,990 PV panels, which will produce up to 1MW of power during peak periods.
The panels are expected to provide more than 1,884 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity a year.
