The local Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading Company has entered into direct negotiations with the local Tamdeen Shopping Centre Development Company (TSCD) for the main construction package on its Mall of Kuwait project. Signing of the estimated $300 million-350 million contract is due soon (MEED 17:6:05).
Located in south Sabahiya, the Mall of Kuwait will be the largest mixed-use commercial development in the state when it opens in 2009. The mall will comprise shopping units covering a gross leasable area of 150,000 square metres, a hypermarket, a multi-storey car park with space for 8,000 vehicles, an IMAX cinema complex and a multi-purpose convention hall.The conceptual masterplanner on the development is the US Eric Kuhne & Associates. OHA Engineering Consultants is the local design consultant, while the UKs Buro Happold has completed the design review.Ahmadiah is the main contractor on TSCDs 360 Kuwait mall project after winning the KD 36 million ($124 million) contract earlier in the year (MEED 17:2:06).www.meed.com/construction
