Airbus forecasts youth will drive increase
The Middle East air passenger market will continue to grow faster than the global average over the next 20 years, according to Airbus.
The European aircraft manufacturer predicts regional air passenger traffic will grow 5.9 per cent a year between 2009 and 2028, outstripping the global average of 4.7 per cent.
According to the Airbus 2009 Global Market Forecast, the young populations of the Arab world will help drive passenger growth.
The report states that worldwide, aircraft manufacturers will transport about 25,000 new passengers and freight aircraft between 2009 and 2028 at an average rate of 1,248 aircraft a year. Airlines will spend $3.1 trillion in total at list prices.
