Air passengers more at ease with self service

According to a survey by SITA, airline passengers are demonstrating their increasing ease with online, kiosk and mobile phone channels. Acceptance of self-service automated security checks has reached 70% among respondents compared to 58% in last year’s survey. Demand for automatic boarding gates has risen to 70% compared to 57% last year. Also, year-on-year growth in the percentage of passengers using airline websites to book hotels rose to 38% in this year’s survey, the fifth annual SITA/Air Transport World Passenger Self-Service Survey said.
