Ajman sewage network nears completion

24 February 2009

Ajman Sewerage Private Company is close to completing work on the first phase of its sewage network project in Ajman, the company announced in a statement on 24 February.

The new network will serve more than 75,000 homes and companies, and will include a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 50,000 cubic metres a day.

Ajman Sewerage was set up as a public-private partnership between Belgium’s Besix, France’s Veolia Water, the US’s Black & Veatch and the government of Ajman in 2002.

Once construction is completed, Ajman Sewerage will hand the operation of the network over to Moalajah, a joint venture of Besix and Veolia.

The project is being carried out under a 27-year concession agreement.
