Al-Ahmadiah wins Al-Murooj contract

The local Al-Ahmadiah Contracting & Trading has been awarded an estimated AED 352 million ($96 million) contract for the main package on the proposed Al-Murooj commercial and residential project in Dubai. Called package 2, the two-year contract covers the sub- and superstructures and embedded mechanical, electrical and plumbing works for the proposed scheme (MEED 22:3:02).

The project centres on the construction of 10 towers, each of 12 storeys, over a total area of about 190,000 square metres. It will also include a three-star hotel of 220 rooms, with a total built-up area of 40,000 square metres. Other features proposed cover a department store over a total area of about 4,200 square metres, underground parking, restaurants and entertainment and recreational facilities.

The project will be located at the northeast corner of the defence roundabout, close to the Sheikh Zayed highway.

The first package on the project is being carried out by the local Middle East Foundations (UAE, MEED Special Report, 23:11:01, page 45).

The consultant is the local Architecture & Engineering Consultants; the US' Hill International is the project manager. The client is Dubai International Real Estate Company.
