Designed by the local Omrania Architects, Planners & Engineers, the commercial complex will consist of a 7,412-square-metre shopping mall, basement parking facilities and two floors of office space. A 224-metre-long glass facade will face the approach from King Fahd Road, in sight of the nearby Kingdom Centre, on which Omrania did design work in partnership with Ellerbe Becketof the US.

Al-Ajlan is the second major shopping mall project to get under way this year in Riyadh. The General Organisation for Social Insurance (GOSI) is expected to award in mid September a contract to build the SR 400 million ($107 million) Granada Centre, a 125,000-square-metre development to the east of the city (MEED 16:8:02).
