Al-Assad appoints new ministers in Syria

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has replaced two ministers in his government in the second major cabinet reshuffle in 2008.

The president appointed Ahmed Qusai Kayyali as the new Electricity Minister. He has replaced Ahmed Khalid al-Ali in the role.

Omar Ibrahim Ghalawenji was named as the new Minister of Housing and Construction, replacing Hamud al-Husayn in the position.

Ghalawenji was previously head of the General Housing Institute while Kayyali held the post of deputy head of Aleppo University.
