Al-Futtaim lets more festival city work

A joint venture of Lebanon's Arabian Construction Company(ACC)and the UK's Higgs & Hillhas been awarded an estimated AED 250 million ($68 million) contract on the Dubai Festival City (DFC) development by the creek. The contract covers construction of an Ikeastore, a hypermarket and atrium buildings and involves 100,000 square metres of built-up area. The consultant on the 10-month contract is the UK's Brewer, Smith & Brewer.

In July, the local/UK Al-Futtaim Carillionwas awarded an estimated AED 1,200 million ($326 million) contract to build the waterfront retail centre, a five-star, 500-room InterContinental hotel, a second four-star hotel and a high-rise office complex.

DFC, located by Garhoud bridge, will be developed in 15 zones and require investment of $4,000 million over 10 years. The project calls for the construction of a global village, an amphitheatre, a 55-storey tower and entertainment facilities. The client is MajidAl-Futtaim Investments, part of the local Abdullah al-Futtaim Group(MEED 30:7:04).
