Al-Husam frontrunner for Abu Dhabi pipeline work

03 June 2008

The local Al-Husam General Contracting is the frontrunner for the contract to provide pipeline construction services to Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (Adco).

The contract covers the installation of flowlines and wellhead installations for Adco. The successful contractor will be employed on an on-call basis, carrying out work as and when required.

The scheme covers the Sahil, Asab and Shah (SAS) fields, and is a precursor to the multi-billion-dollar SAS full-field development, which is under bidding.

Abu Dhabi-based Al-Husam is believed to have made the best offer among the eight bids to be submitted. The other bidders include Lebanon's CAT, Oman's Galfar Engineering & Contracting, the local Matrix, India's Punj Lloyd, and the local Bin Frieh (MEED 14:4:08).

A formal award is expected soon.

The consultants on the project are Canada's Veco and the UK’s Mott MacDonald (MEED 24:3:08).
