Al-Jaber awarded Abu Dhabi interchange

The local Al-Jaber Group has been formally awarded the AED 754 million ($205 million) contract to build a new interchange at Mafraq.

The two-year contract involves the construction of twin, 37-metre-long bridges, 1,728 metres of viaducts, five kilometres of slip roads, and the widening of five kilometres of the existing Abu Dhabi to Al-Ain highway.

The other bidders were the local Saif Bin Darwish, with a price of AED 844 million ($230 million), and the joint venture of Japan's Shimizu Corporation and the local Al-Geemi & Partners Contracting, with AED 1,072 million ($292 million).

The UK's Hyder Consulting is the consultant. Abu Dhabi Municipality is the client (MEED 5:4:07).
