Construction on the villas, located in the Veneto district of the development, is expected to begin in June, with the handover of the first units anticipated in the second half of 2009. In total, Veneto will comprise 1,400 villas and townhouses and 1,200 low-rise apartments. It will eventually be home to a predicted population of 14,000.
Dubai-based Mammut Group has started work on the AED500m ($136m) design-and-build contract for more than 140 villas and 850 apartments in the Badrah district of the development.
Located to the west of Dubai near Jebel Ali, the Dubai Waterfront site covers an area of 130 square kilometres. It is projected that it will have a population of 1.4 million people. Local developer Nakheel is the client (MEED 8:5:08).
