The deal is the biggest purchase of Caterpillar machines in the company's history. It includes a wide range of earth moving equipment that will support the group's operations and expansion plans. Delivery of the machines will start immediately and continue until the first quarter of 2009. Al-Jaber has purchased 1,000 Caterpillar machines since January 2007.
According to MEED’s 2008 Contractor Survey, Al-Jaber is the largest contracting company in the emirates, with $3.5bn of new orders in 2007, and is well-placed to capitalise on the $140bn of real estate projects planned in Abu Dhabi (MEED 1:2:08).
