Local developer Aldar Properties has approached selected contractors to build the estimated AED2.5bn ($680m) town centre at its Al-Raha Gardens development. Construction is scheduled to start in late 2008.
The local Al-Jaber Group built the first phase of the villas and the hand-over started in August. The local General Transport Company was awarded the contract to build the road network in 2006.
Cansult Maunsell, part of US-based Aecom, is the infrastructure design consultant. Australia’s GHD is the overall consultant.
