Aldar Besix has invited contractors to express interest in tendering for the civil works package for the retail centre on the $40bn Yas island development in Abu Dhabi.
The ground floor area of the mall is 91,000 square metres, and the total floor area is 370,000 sq m. The successful contractor will have to co-ordinate with the roofing, finishing, cladding and mechanical contractors.
An award is expected in June and completion is scheduled for the end of September 2009.
Aldar Besix is the joint venture management contracting company formed by local developer Aldar Properties and Belgium's Besix earlier in 2008 to deliver the Yas Island project (MEED 6:3:08).
