Aldar Laing O’Rourke joint venture sheds 320 jobs

29 January 2009
The Aldar Laing O’Rourke joint venture has laid off 320 staff, following a reduction in the amount of work available on the $14bn Al-Raha Beach project.

The joint venture was formed in late 2006 to build Al-Raha Beach. If was set up at a time when contracting resources were in short supply as the construction market approached its 2007 peak.

Aldar Laing O’Rourke is now tendering for other projects in Abu Dhabi including the Fairmont Hotel and the Eastern Mangrove projects (MEED 4:12:08).
