“We are planning a development that respects the nearby burial ground,” says Ronald Barrott, chief executive officer of Aldar. “It will be residential and low rise.”
Aldar is working closely with the Committee of Islamic Endowment (Awqaf) and the Urban Development Committee to rehabilitate and landscape the area without disrupting the sanctity of the burial ground.
A new wall surrounding the cemetery will also be built as well as a new entrance on the eastern side, and a parking space.
Aldar is preparing the plans in-house.
