Deadline for Algeria rail electrification bids set for early March
The Algerian railway agency Anesrif has launched the tender for a study into the 25kV/50Hz electrification of 2,670 kilometres of track.
Potential bidders must submit their documents by 1 March and demonstrate their experience in the study of railway electrification, with a proven track record of conducting studies on rail lines exceeding 16km in the past 10 years.
The tender comes as the North African country looks to launch a number of new rail projects. In a statement issued by the Transport Ministry in early November, plans to launch 13 new rail projects worth an estimated $4.5bn were announced.
