Algiers has launched its second international licensing round for mining acreage.
The round includes 20 exploration licences and four prospecting licences. It covers a range of mineral and metal prospects including gold, diamond, copper, lead and zinc.
The tender process was launched on 2 December by state mining company Agence Nationale du Patrimoine Minier at the country’s first international mining conference in Algiers.
The deadline for the submission of technical bids for exploration prospects is 25 May 2008, with prices due to be opened on 24 June. Prospecting bids will be opened on 4 May.
A data room for bidders was opened on 2 December and will be available until 30 April 2008.
