09 June 2008
The local Ali Moosa & Sons Contracting has been awarded an estimated AED460m ($123m) contract to build a car park next to the Jumeirah Station on the red line of the Dubai Metro.

The contract involves the construction of a seven-floor building with 3,000 parking spaces. The total built-up area is 115,000 square metres. The contract duration is 14 months.

The wider metro project involves the construction of three multi-floor car parking facilities at Rashidiya, Al-Ghusais and Jumeirah metro stations.

Construction of 70 per cent of the Red Line and 27 per cent of the Green Line has now been completed. A metro service is due to begin on the Red Line by September 2009 and on the Green Line in 2010.

The Durl Consortium is building the red and green lines. The client is the Roads & Transport Authority (MEED 5:3:08).
