Almoayyed Contracting completes 25 per cent of Bahrain tower

Al-Seef tower project unlikely to hit original completion date in 2011

The local Almoayyed Contracting Group has finished the four-storey car park and the first seven floors of the 35-storey BFB Tower in Bahrain’s Al-Seef district.

The estimated $80m tower was designed by local consultancy Andalus Engineering and is being financed by local developer Bin Faqeeh.

Originally scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2011, a source inside Bin Faqeeh says the commercial building is unlikely to be finished by that date and is much more likely to be finished during the first half of 2012.

Bin Faqeeh’s tower is moving forward despite other developers finding some difficulty in Al-Seef.

The local Ithmaar Development Company put its 44-storey residential tower on hold in early March after Manama refused to approve the project (MEED 7:3:10).

In June 2009, the local First Bahrain Real Estate Development Company cancelled its estimated $450m mixed-use project due to unforeseen market changes.

UK-based engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald was appointed design engineer for the Al-Seef development in 2008.
