Position: Managing director, global rail business
Biography: Amjad Bangash has been the managing director of the rail division at US-based Bechtel Group, which will head the consortium building lines 1 and 2 of the Riyadh Metro, since April 2012.
He joined Bechtel in 1992 as a senior engineer at the San Francisco head office and soon after moved to project assignments in construction and engineering in the US, Nigeria, Thailand and Guyana. In 1995, Bangash took on an engineering management role for the Kowloon-Canton Rail Corporation West Rail Project in Hong Kong.
He has also held construction and project management positions at the Bechtel-led design-and-build Airport MAX Light Rail Project in Portland in the US, and senior management roles at Bechtel, working for London-based asset management firm Tube Lines. Bangash has a doctorate in civil engineering from Washington State University in the US.
