Amman raises fuel prices

10 July 2008
Jordan has raised fuel prices for the sixth time this year as it struggles to deal with the high cost of imported oil.

The move on 10 July increased the price of a litre of gasoline 95 by 4.3 per cent from JD0.805 ($1.13) to JD0.84. Gasoline 90 will now cost JD0.735 compared with JD0.705, a 4.2 per cent increase.

The price of diesel and kerosene was raised by 10.2 per cent to JD0.77. The price of cooking gas was not affected.

Amman last raised fuel prices on 10 June. The most significant increase this year was in February when the country partially liberalised fuel prices, ending decades of subsidies.
