Third phase will add 560MW to the power project
Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has awarded a SR1.43bn ($380m) contract to the local Arabian Bemco Contracting Company to construct the third phase of the Al-Qassim power plant.
Phase three of the project will add an additional 560MW in power capacity. The contract was signed on 7 November.
Arabian Bemco recently completed the second phase of the project for SEC. The company won a SR1.08bn ($289m) contract to build phase 2 in January.
As part of the phase 2 contract, Arabian Bemco added four gas turbines with a total capacity of 224MW to the plant. The extension project was completed on a seven-month fast track basis to support the power needs of the Qassim region over the summer period.
