04 August 2008
The Dubai-based Arabtec Construction has secured a AED1.6bn ($436m) contract to design and construct 1,437 villas in Dubailand.

The villas will be located in the Bawadi project within the mixed-use development in Dubailand. Construction is expected to take approximately three years.

The client is the Emaar-Bawadi joint venture.

It is the latest in a series of villa contracts awarded to the local contractor. In June the firm was awarded an estimated AED3bn contract to build the first phase of villas at the Al-Furjan development in the Jebel Ali area of Dubai.

It is also constructing villas in a number of other Dubai projects including Dubai Silicon Oasis and Sanctuary Falls (MEED 8:6:08).
