Local contractor will expand and refurbish low-cost airline terminal
The local Arabtec Construction is the front runner for the estimated AED600m ($162m) contract to expand and refurbish Terminal 2 at Dubai International airport.
The project involves doubling the size of the terminal from 30,000 square metres to about 60,000 sq m. For the selected contractor, this will involve about 30,000 sq m of new build and 25,000 sq m of refurbishment. The client is Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).
Two local other contractors had been shortlisted earlier this year for the contract along with Arabtec. They were Al-Ahmadiah and Alec (MEED 9:12:11).
