Aramco plans major offshore work

About six groups of fabricators are preparing to submit technical and commercial bids by 31 October to Saudi Aramco for two offshore lump-sum turnkey (LSTK) contracts covering the installation of production facilities and pipelines. Both contracts are worth a total of $300 million-350 million.

The prospective bidders include: a local/Malaysian team of Rafid Group,with Ramunia Fabricators; Abu Dhabi-based National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC); Jebel Ali-based J Ray McDermott (Middle East); an Egyptian team of Petrojetwith Arab Company for Projects & Maintenance; Italy's Saipem; and the US' Global Offshorewith Abu Dhabi-based Subtec National Company.

The first contract - maintenance of potential facilities - will cover the engineering, design and fabrication of two drilling support structures in Zuluf, four production deck modules in Safaniya and Zuluf, a new tie-in jacket and deck with associated bridge, and related facilities. The second contract will cover the supply and installation of a 30-inch-diameter, 22-kilometre-long gas pipeline to serve the Khursaniyah oil field development.
