Aramco tenders more power work

About 15 companies have been invited to bid by a 1 March deadline to upgrade Saudi Aramco' spower facilities at Riyadh refinery and the Yanbu natural gas liquids (NGL) plant. The two schemes, known as the Yanbu NGL and Riyadh refinery co-generation project, are expected to cost about $50 million each.

The work at Riyadh refinery will involve the refurbishment of three existing gas turbines and the installation of new heat recovery steam generators to produce high-power steam. The Yanbu contract involves the refurbishment of three similar turbines at Rabigh refinery and their relocation to the Yanbu plant, where they will also be fitted with heat recovery steam generators.

Both contracts will also involve the integration of the new systems with existing utilities and process piping, as well as electrical and instrumentation works and the installation of communications systems.

Prospective bidders include: Techintand Saipem, both of Italy; Germany's Siemens; Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC); the local/Turkish Gama al-Moushegeh; and Arabian Bemco Contracting, Imad Company,Tamimi Group,Al-Rushaidand Abdullah Fouad, all local.
