Four desalination units will make Halul island self-sufficient
Qatar Petroleum (QP) has awarded a $50m contract to Archirodon Group for the construction of desalination units and holding tanks.
The Netherlands-registered company will built four desalination units with a production capacity of 500 cubic metres a day and two storage tanks at the QP offshore site of Halul island.
The units will complement the two existing desalination units. Once they are complete, Halul island will boast enough sweet water production capacity to be self-sufficient.
The construction of associated equipment also falls under the scope of the contract. These include feed tanks and pumps, chlorinator packages, seawater intake systems and piping.
