Arco bids low for Dubai water pumping stations

12 June 2008

The local Arco General Contracting is low bidder at AED112m ($30.5m) for a contract to build two water pumping stations for Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa).

Arco’s bid is some 25 per cent lower than the second best offer of AED140m submitted by the local Al-Hijaz Mechanical Equipment Company.

The other bidders are the Ghantoot Gulf Contracting and Green Oasis General Contracting, both local, Oman's Gulf Petrochemical Services & Trading, the US' Power Flow Engineering and Abu Dhabi Maintenance & Construction Company.

The scope of works involves the construction of two pumping stations each with a capacity of 60 million gallons a day along with a surge protection system and associated electro-mechanical works.

The client is expected to make an award soon.
