Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has issued an invitation to bid on an $82.4m contract to build, test and maintain a district sewerage network throughout the Al-Khor township 50 kilometres north of Doha.

The tender was issued in late March and technical and commercial bids are due in on 25 May.

The project covers the construction of 33 kilometres of vitrified clay sewers and 10km of trunk sewers.

The contract also includes the construction of 1,150 manholes, 200 of which will be located in shafts used for micro-tunnel sewer installation.

The winning contractor will also responsible for building 1,850 house connections to provide ground access to entire sewerage network.

Al-Khor is a resort town for workers in Qatar’s energy industry.
