The software-driven system will be installed at the roads assets management centre (RAMC), which is located on the ground floor of the under-construction headquarters building of the Asset Affairs division of the authority.
MEED understands the ITS software will support and integrate all existing and future ITS implementations within Ashghal. It is also envisaged to enable control room operators to manage, monitor and maintain the road networks and assets within the responsibility of the authority 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The system is expected to present control room supervisors and operators with data from individual ITS/ICT sub-systems and other roads-related ICT asset management systems through a consolidated operator interface.
The selected contractor will manage all stakeholder engagement for ITS interfaces to various agencies and their IT systems, including:
- Lusail Smart City
- Salwa-Dukhan control room
- Traffic signal control room (TSCR)
- Field ITS devices
- Ministry of Transportation and Communications
- Ministry of Interior
- PWA (Ashghal) business
RAMC will serve as the future hub for all of Ashghal's road assets-related issues and coordinate road asset activities. It will also provide tools to quickly and safely respond to and manage incidents and events that may affect the roads network.
