UK consultant will help establish Doha’s Central Planning Office
UK-based consultant Atkins has been appointed by the Municipality and Urban Planning Ministry to support the establishment of Doha’s new Central Planning Office that will coordinate current and planned, road, metro and other major infrastructure projects in Qatar.
These schemes underpin Qatar’s 2030 vision and will provide the infrastructure for football’s 2022 World Cup.
The Central Planning Office will be a single coordinating body which will be responsible for overseeing all major project work in Qatar (MEED 14:12:11).
Atkins contract will run for three years and is worth about $108m. The award follows Atkins winning a five-year contract secured in 2011 for consultancy services on Doha’s roads and drainage network.
