Ayla Oasis award nears

The $700 million Ayla Oasis project in Aqaba is moving forward, with selection close of a contractor for the first infrastructure package. The developer is Ayla Oasis Development Company, owned by Saudi Arabia's Arab Supply & Trading Establishment (ASTRA).
The $700 million Ayla Oasis project in Aqaba is moving forward, with selection close of a contractor for the first infrastructure package. The developer is Ayla Oasis Development Company, owned by Saudi Arabia's Arab Supply & Trading Establishment (ASTRA).

The frontrunners for the infrastructure package are a joint venture of the local Arabtech-Jardenehand the US' Montgomery Wilsonand a team of the UK's Buro Happoldand Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC). A selection is expected soon.

The Ayla Oasis project will take about 12 years to complete and will be constructed in three phases. It will include residential units, hotels, a marina village, an artificial lagoon and an 18-hole golf course (MEED 3:12:04).
