BA to resume flights to Saudi

British Airways is to restart flights to Saudi Arabia, reported the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on 5 September. 'Higher authorities have approved the resumption of British Airways flights to Saudi Arabia after it made a request to the Saudi General Presidency for Civil Aviation,' it reported.

BAhas not flown to the Kingdom since 13 August when flights were cancelled over security warnings from UK intelligence (MEED 13:8:03). In a statement made after a meeting between the President of the Civil Aviation and the director of the British Airwayson 2 September, SPA announced that, 'The inspection visits made by the experts in the two countries have proved that the security measures at Saudi airports surpass even the international standards as per Chicago Treaty pertaining to the security of aviation.'

BAhas not confirmed when flights will restart.
