The UK defence firm to supply F-16 support equipment

The UK’s BAE Systems has secured a new contract to supply military equipment to the government of Oman.

The $23m deal will see BAE supply F-16 fighter jet support equipment, test systems and spares.

The materials will be shipped in early 2014.

BAE is a long-term supplier of military hardware to Oman. In December, the company struck a $3.8bn deal to supply 12 Typhoon fighter jets and eight Hawk advanced jet trainer aircraft.

Manufacture of the aircraft is scheduled to commence next year with deliveries to begin in 2017.
